Cary Sandman

Cary Sandman is experienced in trial and appellate actions in the state and federal courts. He is rated AV® by Martindale-Hubbel and is listed in the “Best Lawyers in America” in Commercial Litigation, and in Bet The Company Litigation.

Admitted to the Arizona Bar in 1976, Mr. Sandman represents clients in complex litigation in matters involving copyright, trade name, trademark and trade secret disputes; claims arising between members of closely-held business entities; and claims of federal false advertising, business torts, defamation and unfair competition. His expertise also includes construction disputes, real estate broker negligence actions; suits to clear title to real estate; matters concerning real estate escrow and title insurance claims; disputes arising under commercial leases; and probate and trust litigation. Mr. Sandman frequently represents governmental agencies, including the State of Arizona, the Arizona Board of Regents and the University of Arizona.

In addition to his regular legal practice, Mr. Sandman also serves as a commercial arbitrator and mediator.

Public Service
Mr. Sandman has a long record of service to the community and the profession. He is currently serving as a member of the Arizona Supreme Court’s Committee on Character and Fitness and the Pima County Bar Association New Rules Committee. In the past he has served as President of the Pima County Bar Association, President of the Morris K. Udall Inn of Court, Chair of the State Bar of Arizona Continuing Legal Education Committee, and Chair of the State Bar of Arizona Gender Bias Task Force.

Mr. Sandman is an attorney member of the Arizona Justice Project and a regular participant as a defender in federal habeas corpus matters in death penalty cases. He has received awards from the State Bar of Arizona for Outstanding Professionalism in the Practice of Law and for Outstanding Contributions to Continuing Legal Education. Additionally, the Pima County Bar Association has awarded him for providing pro bono services.

Mr. Sandman has served on a number of charity boards of directors. Most recently he served as the board president of the Marshall Home for Men—a supervisory care home for indigent and infirm men.
