Since his admission to practice in 1966, Peter Economidis has tried dozens of civil and criminal cases to verdict and judgment in state and federal courts. Beginning in about 1980, he has limited his practice to divorce and family law cases, and he now specializes as a Mediator of complex divorce and family law matters, and has successfully mediated the settlement of nearly 100% of his cases.
Mr. Economidis is a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, and served two terms as President of the Arizona Chapter. He is also certified by the Academy as a Mediator. Mr. Economidis has been listed in “Best Lawyers in America”, in Family Law, a designation he has enjoyed since the book’s first publication in 1977 and was Named by Best Lawyers for 2009 as Tucson Best Lawyers Lawyer of the year. He also has been designated as one of the “Best Lawyers in America” in the subspeciality area of Family Law Mediation since inception of that category. In 1985 and again in 1999, Mr. Economidis was also named as one of Arizona’s Best Lawyers.
Mr. Economidis has been a frequent lecturer in family law subjects, including community property law, the equitable division of property, spousal maintenance, custody and support matters, taxation, premarital agreements, business and professional practice valuations as well as a myriad of other subjects. He has also been selected by the State Bar of Arizona to teach Arizona’s course on Professionalism and to lecture to Arizona judges at a judicial conference. More recently, he has also lectured on the subjects of mediation and arbitration.
Mr. Economidis has also served as a Judge Pro Tempore in both civil and family law matters in the Pima County Superior Court since approximately 1975.
